Discovering Your Vision

Text- Proverbs 29: 18

FACTS 

# Where there is no vision your life will be going without control/ restraints, you just live your life carelessly thereby wasting all your opportunities, because you don't have a vision and nothing gives your life a guideline.

# The English dictionary defines vision as the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom.

# A vision is a mental picture of your preferred future.

# Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What would you like your future to be? A vision is an idea of what you would like your life to be in the years ahead. 

COMPONENTS OF A VISION

1. FORESIGHT: It is like a telescope, it is looking at the future. You must be able to see beyond your immediate environment and circumstances. For you to have a vision, you must look ahead.

2. INSIGHT: It is like looking through a microscope, insight gives you details, it makes small things look big, so you can identify which is which, some people have foresight,  but lacks insight. Insight gives you better information and it is very important.

3. HINDSIGHT : It is like looking  at the rear view mirror of a vehicle. You catch a glimpse and move on. The reason you need to look at the past is to learn a thing and move on. If you don't have a vision you are coming back to your past. The most important thing is to look forward,  it is the most important journey.  You need a vision to move forward, something that will put all your restraints in place. A man is either drawn by his vision or drawn by his past.

WHY DO WE NEED TO HAVE A VISION?

1. IT CONTRADICTS YOUR PRESENT REALITY -A vision is futuristic, so your vision is supposed to be different from your current situation. You shouldn't allow the now to obstruct the future.

2. YOUR VISION CONFRONTS YOUR SENSE OF COMFORT - Your Vision shakes off your laziness,  it makes a timid man bold, it makes an idle man busy, your vision allows you to be on the move, it helps you check your character,  it puts you on the edge.

3. YOUR VISION CONCEIVES NEW OPPORTUNITIES - It is an incubator of ideas. It allows you to see opportunities where people see nothing, it helps you to conceive new things, where there is a casting down, there is a lifting up if you have a vision.

4. VISION CONNECTS YOU TO RESOURCES- A vision connects you to people with vision, it makes you identify people with a vision.

5. YOUR VISION CONCENTRATES YOUR ENERGY - Your Vision helps you to keep focus. It helps you to keep away from certain things and people you don't need in your life.
